Phillippe Jouaneix breaks all the records.

Phillippe Jouaneix from Siegen breaks all the records in taekwondo.

Phillippe Jouaneix from the small village of Burbach near Siegen in Germany is one of the most successful taekwondo fighters in the world.

Up to this point, this sounds just like any "normal" career in sports. But Jouaneix is a very special sportsman. Since birth, he has been missing the larger part of both calves and wears specially made below-knee prostheses. "We've been looking after Phillippe ever since his earliest childhood", explains Heinz-Joachim Schindler, master orthopaedic technician and CEO of Schindler-Orthopädie in Siegen. "Our "power-pack" hasn't been able to attend competitions with his everyday prostheses for a long time: we've built particularly robust but light orthoprostheses out of carbon fibre".
Schindler's pride in his protégé is justified, as Phillippe Jouaneix himself reports: "Schindler-Orthopädie has been by my side all my life". I even learned to walk there! These days an orthopaedic technician from the firm accompanies me to every competition. And don't forget: without the support and the sponsoring from Schindler-Orthopädie, I wouldn’t be able to finance this top-level sport. "He has already set a world record, he’s the only "Dan" in the world with two below-knee prostheses, his outstanding performance is soon to be published in the Guinness Book of Records - Stolperstein wishes the talented sportsman Phillippe Jouaneix every success for further record-breaking performances.

Taekwondo (also known as Tae-Kwon-Do or Taekwon-Do) is a fast and furious Korean martial art. Continuous training and concentrated pursuit of various disciplines help taekwondoins - as all those who practice taekwondo are called - train their body and mind.

The right prostheses are essential

Phillippe Jouaneix wears two medi Flex RLP carbon feet in his competitive prostheses. These high quality prosthetic feet are specially robust and are based on the so-called integrated carbon "double-Z spring", which stands up to particularly high demands. Thanks to its unique construction, the carbon material, which has energy-returning properties, can release enormous amounts of energy to support prosthesis wearers when they move around. Thus active users have a highly functional and reliable prosthesis with carbon feet such as the medi Flex RLP. Incidentally: Phillippe Jouaneix wears medi Flex VLP feet in his everyday prostheses.
