What is yoga?
"Harmonising body, spirit and soul" - yoga promises more than just sport, it is also an attitude of mind! Thus, the yoga exercises not only improve physical vitality, but they also restore the inner balance. To achieve this end, "yogis" perform the physical exercises (so-called asanas) as well as breathing and relaxation exercises.
What are the benefits of yoga?
There are many positive effects of yoga. It can relieve a wide range of clinical pictures such as back pain, headache, nervousness and sleep or circulatory disorders. But yoga has equally positive effects on the psyche and mental balance.
Yoga - for leg amputees
"Yoga is ideal for leg amputees because the specific muscle exercises gently strengthen the abdomen, the back, the arms and the pelvic floor, which is especially important for our erect posture" explains Valeria Almarales, a yoga teacher. "An amputation throws almost all those affected off their emotional balance. Yoga can have particularly positive effects here because the exercises reduce stress - based on the approach of harmonising body, spirit and soul".
